Spendrups, one of Sweden's leading breweries, has, in collaboration with Trioworld, switched to 30 percent consumer recycled plastic in all stretch and shrink film.
Customer stories
The collaboration between Trioworld and Spendrups, one of Sweden's leading breweries, began in 2020 with a joint ambition to increase the proportion of recycled material in plastic film packaging solutions. In 2023 Spendrups switched to 30% Post-Consumer Recyclate (PCR)* plastic in all stretch- and shrink film, used around pallets and drinking troughs.
For Spendrups, the transition to Trioworld's Loop alternatives with 30% PCR provides an annual saving corresponding to approx. 150 tons of new plastic and 200 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents.** The investment is in line with Spendrup's sustainability strategy, where reduced climate impact and a more circular use of resources, such as packaging materials, are important building blocks.
In Trioworld’s recycling process, from used plastics into high quality granules, premium quality for the final product is secured. To ensure this, extensive tests are carried out, both on a small and large scale. For Spendrups it is crucial that the plastic maintains highest quality through their high-speed production and in transportation to their customers, something that otherwise can be a challenge with recycled material.
The collaboration between Trioworld and Spendrup will continue and the next step is to further increase the percentage of Spendrup’s recycled material. The goal is to reach 70% PCR within a few years.
"Now we have taken another step, and in Trioworld we have a partner who can help us improve our sustainability performance and at the same time maintain high quality and efficiency."

*DEFINITION
Post-Consumer Recyclate (PCR) - recycled plastic from post-consumer plastic waste (waste material generated by the end-users of products, that has fulfilled its intended purpose or can no longer be used - including material returned from within the distribution chain).
** CALCULATION DETAILS
Replacing 500 tonnes Trioworld virgin material products with an equal amount of Trioworld Loop30 solutions means that at least 30% of the tonnage is recycled plastic, this equals 150 tonnes less virgin material1 and corresponds to 200 tonnes CO2 equivalents less in comparison 2. This only applies to products provided by Trioworld.
1 The total amount of virgin material being replaced when using Trioworld Loop alternatives has been calculated based on product compositions for production in 2022 respectively 2023.
2 Based on cradle-to-gate calculations, packaging material for the plastic film not included, applicable for production conditions in 2022 respectively 2023.
