Purpose Statement

Our commitment to circularity

Trioworld has produced premium plastic film solutions for more than 60 years and we know that plastics sit at the center of some of today’s most complex sustainability challenges. That is why sustainability is not a side project for us; it is a driver of how we grow our business, how we innovate, and how we work with customers to move from a linear model to a circular one while maintaining the highest possible quality and performance.

We don’t claim to have all the answers. Plastic film can deliver real benefits: protecting products, reducing food waste, improving safety, and enabling efficient transport, but it also creates impact across its value chain. Our responsibility is to be honest about that impact, reduce it where we can, and help build the systems needed to keep materials in use. That means developing solutions with lower carbon footprints and increasing recycled content, while also collaborating to ensure products are recycled at scale after use.

Our challenges

The world around packaging is changing fast, and it’s creating real challenges: higher volatility, tighter expectations, and more pressure to prove value.

Regulators are turning sustainability into clear requirements, EPR is reshaping costs, and climate disclosure is requiring transparency of GHG emissions data across the value chain.

At the same time, customers want verified recycled content, credible footprint data, and circular solutions that perform in the real world without added complexity.

That’s why our focus is simple: make it easier to choose lower climate impact packaging with proven, scalable products backed by transparent documentation and practical circular services.

Climate impact

Climate impact matters because rapid economic, operational, and regulatory shifts are reshaping competitiveness. Customers need verified footprint and recycled-content data, plus lower-emission solutions that maintain performance. Acting now reduces risk, protects market access, and delivers value through lightweighting and circular materials.

Building Circularity at Scale

Trioworld's Recycling Division

Trioworld is sharpening its organisation to accelerate growth and scale circular solutions, establishing a dedicated Recycling Division in 2025. This strengthens governance in line with Trioworld’s growth ambitions and gives circularity the leadership focus and resources to move faster, invest with confidence, and deliver greater impact for customers.

With recycling operations across Sweden, Denmark, and France, the new division expands capacity and improves consistency, delivering a reliable supply of high-quality post-consumer recycled (PCR) material engineered to meet the same performance standards as Trioworld’s own films. Customers can access high-grade PCR as a raw material, or use Triocircular closed-loop services to collect used film and turn it back into premium PCR. The result: less reliance on virgin plastic, stronger supply resilience, and circular solutions that scale without compromising day-to-day performance.

How we work to reduce impact

Sustainability at Trioworld is built into how we develop products, run operations, and partner across the value chain. We focus on actions we can measure and scale while prioritizing circular material flows, designs that work in real recycling systems, and continuous improvements that reduce emissions. To track progress and keep accountability clear across the organization, we use a set of core KPIs that connect directly to customer needs, regulatory direction, and our circularity strategy. These two KPIs show how we aim to lower our Scope 3 GHG emissions and support circularity. PCR consumption measures the consumption of mechanically recycled PCR in relation to the total approved production volume. Design for Recycling (DfR) sold measures the amount of sold product volume that meets DfR criteria.

Why we focus on these environmental metrics?

We chose these climate impact metrics as they reflect the biggest levers we can directly influence to lower the climate impact of plastic packaging: what goes into the product (materials), how it’s designed (end-of-life), and how we operate (GHG emissions). Together, they keep the focus on progress that is practical, measurable, and scalable, not just good intentions.

PCR Consumption - What is PCR and why track it?

What is PCR: PCR stands for post-consumer recyclate. It refers to recycled plastic from post-consumer plastic waste (waste material generated by the end users of products, that has fulfilled its intended purpose or can no longer be used – including material returned from within the distribution chain).

Our aim: lowering Scope 3 raw material GHG emissions, and to increase the PCR consumption on product group level.

Why it matters: It lowers our Scope 3 GHG emissions, strengthens recycling markets, keeps valuable material in use longer, and helps customers advance circularity targets—while maintaining the performance required in real operations.

This KPI measures the consumption of mechanically recycled PCR in relation to total approved production volume.

What does Designed for Recycling (DfR) mean and why is it important to track?

Designed for recycling refers to packaging or products that are developed to be compatible with existing recycling systems, so the material can be successfully collected, sorted, processed, and returned to use as recycled material.

Why we picked it: Even the best recycling system fails if packaging isn’t compatible with real-world sorting and recycling processes. This KPI keeps product design aligned with end-of-life reality.

Our aim: Lower Scope 3 end-of-life GHG emissions and increase volumes sold that are designed for recycling to make our products compatible with current sorting and recycling processes, improving the likelihood that materials can be recovered and recycled in practice.

This KPI measures the share of sold product volume that meets the design for recycling criteria. Excluded from this target: medical applications, hygiene laminations, refuse sacks, and waste bags, i.e., products with the purpose of use that will make the product contaminated in such a way that mechanical recycling is not possible, or made for the purpose of disposal.

Why do we track Scope 1 & 2 emissions?

What is Scope 1 & 2: Scope 1 and 2 help show the emissions linked to running our business. Scope 1 comes from sources we own or control directly, while Scope 2 comes from the electricity and other purchased energy we use in our operations.

Why we picked it: Tracking operational and energy-related emissions ensures we reduce climate impact.

Why it matters: It drives accountability for efficiency and decarbonization, supports customer and stakeholder expectations, and ensures our progress includes climate impact.

This KPI measures emissions from our own operations: Scope 1 (direct emissions from fuels and onsite processes) and Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased electricity/heat). It reflects our operational efficiency and our progress in reducing emissions through energy optimization, process improvements, and a shift toward lower-carbon energy sources.
