PRESS RELEASE
Line 19 accelerates the transition towards a more sustainable packaging industry
Trioworld Apeldoorn has officially opened an innovative production line, setting a new standard in circular packaging solutions. This new production line marks a significant milestone in the company’s strategic commitment to sustainable innovation. Officially opened by Apeldoorn’s Alderman Nick Derks.
Line 19 is purpose-built to process Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) materials in a technically and commercially scalable way. Backed by tens of millions of euros invested in in-house recycling capacity, Trioworld has established unique expertise and control over the full value chain, from waste to high-performance films.
Thanks to advanced nanotechnology, Line 19 enables the production of high-quality stretch film containing up to 50% PCR content, without compromising on performance or quality. The result: lighter, stronger, and more efficiently produced films, making use of plastic waste as a raw material. “Line 19 is the result of collaboration, vision, and perseverance,” said Ger Knegt, Managing Director at Trioworld Apeldoorn. “It represents more than just a technical achievement, it’s a commitment to the future. We’re proud to lead the way.”
“Trioworld is truly a company that Apeldoorn can be proud of. A leading and inspiring example for other companies in terms of innovation and sustainability. It is an honour to co-open the new production line today alongside the many dedicated employees from Apeldoorn,” says Nick Derks.
Trioworld continues to invest boldly in the future: in cutting-edge technology and regional employment. Beyond its contribution to the local economy and innovation ecosystem, Line 19 plays a pivotal role in the SKILLS project, part of the Dutch National Growth Fund initiative Circular Plastics NL. Together with partners such as Grolsch, Broeckx Plastic Recycling, and the NTCP, Trioworld is working towards a fully closed-loop system for recycling stretch film. This collaborative approach delivers both practical insights and scalable solutions for the broader industry.
“We believe that true sustainability can only be achieved through collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and collective strength,” Knegt emphasized. Future proof manufacturing starts today The launch of Line 19 marks the beginning of a new chapter for Trioworld. With a clear goal of sourcing at least 35% of all raw materials from PCR by 2030, the company is fully committed to accelerating the circular transition. Similar investments are already planned in Sweden and Canada, inspired by the pioneering progress made in Apeldoorn.
