Trioworld North America Wins Sika’s Sustainable Packaging Challenge with Innovative PCR Stretch Film Solution

Ajax, Ontario - August 8, 2025 - Trioworld North America has been named the winner of Sika’s second annual North America Sustainable Packaging Challenge, earning top honors for its innovative stretch film and stretch hood solution. Designed to reduce plastic consumption and integrate 30% PCR (Post-Consumer Recyclates) material, the solution supports Sika’s commitment to lowering its carbon footprint across manufacturing sites while maintaining high-performance packaging standards.

The Sustainable Packaging Challenge is part of Sika’s broader initiative to drive environmental innovation across its supply chain. The event brought together Sika’s most strategic packaging suppliers to present new, eco-friendly solutions that could be implemented across the company’s operations. A cross-functional committee of 12 Sika leaders representing sustainability, procurement, operations, marketing, product management, and EHS evaluated each proposal. Six finalists advanced to a live exhibition, where they presented working prototypes for consideration.

“Our winning proposal is more than a product — it’s a pathway to a circular economy,” said Stewart Weaver, Director of Business Development, Industrial Products. “By incorporating 30% PCR content into our stretch film and stretch hood products, we can help companies like Sika reduce their environmental impact without sacrificing packaging performance.”

Founded in Sweden in 1965, Trioworld is a global leader in polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) film packaging solutions, with a strong focus on more sustainable solutions. The company’s North American operations are dedicated to delivering innovative packaging products that support carbon footprint reduction, waste minimization, and closed-loop flexible film solutions.

“We are proud to collaborate with Sika on implementing a solution that aligns with their ambitious sustainability goals,” added Stewart Weaver. “This win reinforces Trioworld’s mission to lead the market in sustainable stretch film technology.”

The implementation of Trioworld’s PCR flexible film is expected to begin in the near future, with plans for deployment across Sika’s manufacturing sites.
