Whereas some Frozen Food producers position themselves as a sustainable partner, others still struggle to tackle this sustainability trend. In this blog you will find 6 packaging examples which address the latest trends and developments in a formidable manner. Have a look and get inspired.
When the objective is to use the available packaging material as efficiently as possible people tend to be more sustainable conscious.
One prime example of material efficiency is downgauging. Trioworld works closely with her clients developing even thinner film during recent years. Additionally, Trioworld sees downgauging as one of the sustainability pillars. By using downgauging resources will be used far more efficiently.
The fries in the example below, printed on 32my COEX LDPE film, are packaged in a safe but cost-efficient manner.
Besides downgauging, color can also be an important factor to produce packaging cost-efficient. For example, take a look at the ‘Aprikosen’ packaging below. It makes uses of a smart build-up in the 4 CMYK base colours. Due to the technical advancements it is now possible to produce these smart build-up full colour prints when taken into account during the development phase.
Fewer colors simply means less use of ink, a better price, fewer printing plates, and shorter press setup times. All this reduces costs and results in a more sustainable packaging solution.
To package Seafood companies most often still use laminate. This is the case because frozen fish has sharp edges requiring the packaging to have a high puncture resistance. For this Findus package, however, instead of using laminate, a CEOX LDPE film especially designed to package frozen fish was selected. The thickness of this recyclable packaging is 75 mu COEX LDPE. Offering the right protection to the frozen filets.
To package these frozen fries below a COEX LDPE of 40 mu is used. COEX LDPE can consist of five sometimes seven different layers of raw material which are blown into a film in only one production run. By producing the film in this way, different attributes can be added to the different layers. Think about puncture resistance, shine, a matte coating, stiffness or seal characteristics.
This ecologically produced lasagne filling is printed on COEX LDPE matt film. The image distinguishes itself because its simplicity and design. By using matt film the product gets an ecological appearance.
By applying a matt varnish one can create an effect on the packaging that breaks the shine of the package and replaces’ it with a matt effect. By doing this (important) details can be accentuated. It is a relatively simple application that can elevate a package and give it a more chic or ecological appearance.
The examples above are merely prime examples of COEX LDPE packaging produced by Trioworld.
